A pocket size radiation detector for Alpha, Beta, Gamma and X-ray. With a rechargable battery lasting 90 Hrs of continious use. It comes with 1 rechrgable Li-ion battery with a built in charger, charging cable, protective end cap, Beta filter, belt holder and a water proof protective box. All units tested to 145 F
At the 0.09 mr/hr level and distance, ony a few counts are seen after about 5 Sec. Under normal conditions the unit will flash occasionally (About 1 per Min.) due to background radiation. It WILL flash if you tap it, as the detector is very sensitive, but resilient. Treat it like a microphone you are recording with and it will work very well.
Li-ionThe unit is housed in a diecast aluminum flashlight housing, with a pocket clip. It is only 1 inch in diameter and 4 inches long. The button at the end is push ON and push OFF. The end with the switch screws off for battery removal. It uses one 16340 3.7V Li-ion Fenix ARB-L16700U battery. (It MUST be Li-ion as it needs to be 3.7V A standard Lithium CR123 will NOT work.) The end cap is for pocket carrying and Alpha filtering. If you can read radiation without the cap, BUT not with it, the source is Alpha. When the battery needs to be recharged the LED will be continously lit. (Unless the battery is completely discharged)
This is an inexpensive alternative tool to augment the use of more expensive radiation detectors, that will quantify the radiation level once detected. It can be used to "Sniff Out" a source of radiation. We provide a "Calibration Certificate" to validate the detection threshold, also provide a count per minute guideline (or per 15 Sec.) to determine that a radiation source is above a predetermined level.
RadShark Clip On Radiation Alarm
This unit functions the same as the unit above with the addition of an alarm function. It's microprocessor counts the number of events in a 6 Second period and will alarm for 2 seconds if the count is above a preset level, then it repeats the count cycle. The End Count LED on the back will light dimly during the report time (2 seconds) This also generates a test pulse that is detected and generates a LED blink every 8 seconds (not counted). The Count LED is seen through the top edge of the case. The battery is recharged using a Micro USB access point through the rear cover and if ever needed, it is easily replacable. Operating time is approximately 80+ hours between recharges. A micro ON / OFF toggle switch completely disconnects the battery from the unit when OFF, saving power. The case is molded with an IR Red Polycarbonate material, very tough. The battery can be recharged approximately 500 times.
NOTE! Turn ON YouTube Sound In this Demo, when the Alpha blocker is being used the LED blinking will be the test pulse. The LED will Fash during the entire alarm time. (2 Sec.)
